Enchanted Unicorns
So apparently I suck at the updating regularly thing. Or at least I do when I'm distracted. I'll just ignore the fact that distracted is my normal state of existence....
I managed to fry my switch this weekend. Despite being annoyed at not having a switch for 4 days, this turned out to be a great excuse to get a gigabit switch. I briefly considered wireless, until it occured to me that I have no computers that would benefit from this.
I've decided that Folding@Home is entirely too amusing. Damn you Stanford. Oh, and your admissions deadline is entirely too early.
Sigh. I might go work on crypto now. Or play Halo 2. Nevermind, I will go play Halo, then work on crypto tonight. When I'm less light-headed and dizzy. I hope.

I tried your gigabit capability with my laptop. It at least recognizes it as gigabit, but it's hard to tell what (if any) speed benefit it's getting, since that's the only device on there which is using it. It DOES have an extra LED lit up that way though.
I agree that Stanford's admissions deadline is absurd.
Seaman will be using gigabit when I get back. It has onboard gigbit, but it was significantly easier to get the linksys 10/100 card working (not to mention there wasn't any speed difference), so I was just using that.
There still won't be any speed difference if you just have one computer on gigabit. It's like having a single scsi 320 drive on a channel.
Stanford was December 9th last year and it was my earliest one too. MIT was the second earliest at Dec 15th. Good luck!
Yes, but then when people like you plug in their laptops.... :-)
Yes, but in that case, wifi is better.
